Swimming School Franchise with Baby Otter Swim School

Among children under the age of four, one of the leading causes of accidental death is drowning. In some states, like Florida, drowning is the leading cause of death among children younger than four. Unfortunately, many toddlers lose their lives each year because of swimming pool accidents, and most swimming instructors are only taught how to teach children who are four or older. Baby Otter Swim School was founded more than 40 years ago to address this issue by focusing on helping babies and toddlers learn how to swim. The swim school program also teaches adults with special needs to swim, helping to save lives. Because of their desire to save lives across the country instead of just in Florida, Baby Otter Swim School has decided to offer swimming school franchises.

History of Baby Otter Swim School

A co-founder of Baby Otter Swim School, Mindy York found her 17-month-old baby at the bottom of a swimming pool. Fortunately, York was trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), allowing her to revive her daughter. This experience led York to dedicate herself to teaching children under four how to swim to prevent others from drowning and became her lifelong focus.

York partnered with her co-founder, Marlene Bloom, to develop the instructional program for toddlers and adults with special needs and open the business. Bloom has a Bachelor’s degree in physical education from Florida Atlantic University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Nova Southeastern University. The business partners used their skills and expertise to develop the proprietary Turn, Kick, Reach® system for teaching babies and those with special needs how to swim in a matter of hours. The business was borne out of necessity because swim instructors and schools at the time were not addressing the needs of children younger than age four.

Bloom developed the swim program as an educator with each instructional period following a specific lesson plan. Every franchisee and instructor follows the same approach no matter where they are located. Children learn to swim in five 30-minute lessons. These lessons are consecutive, helping young children gain a better understanding so that the knowledge is imprinted.

Children who go through the lessons are taught over five days for 30 minutes per day. This way, children as young as nine months old learn what to do if they fall into the water. The program is state-certified in Florida.

Offering Franchise Opportunities

The founders of Baby Otter Swim School understand that they can’t have the far-reaching impact they want by saving the lives of children alone. This has driven them to begin franchising. They teach franchisees to become successful business owners so that they can save even more children from drowning.

There are numerous benefits to opening a Baby Otter Swim School franchise. You can enjoy the lowest start-up costs in the industry while also becoming your own boss. You will undergo thorough training in the Turn, Kick, Reach® system and learn how to market your new business in your area. Your franchise will be assigned an exclusive territory in your region so that you won’t have to worry about competition from fellow franchisees. The largest benefit you will enjoy is knowing that your work helps to save young children from drowning so that they can live full, happy, and healthy lives.
