Turn, Kick, Reach® (TKR)

TKR is Baby Otter’s proprietary swimming system that Florida parents and swim instructors have been using to reduce drowning accidents for more than four decades. This unique program helps swimmers to establish the basics of water safety and swimming over the course of five consecutive lessons. It’s appropriate for children as soon as they can crawl. TKR is an essential option for any parent who has ever wondered what would happen if their child fell into the water. TKR offers the best possible introduction to Plantation swimming classes! Its unique five-day span is intentional because it allows children to gradually become confident in the water during a condensed period of skill-building time.

TKR Review

Intended to be taken after completing the TKR course, our TKR Review option is designed to help budding swimmers build on their newly established skills. The class is essential for strengthening and refining skills to become a stronger swimmer.

Beginning Strokes, Level 1

This semi-beginner class is ideal for swimmers who have had some experience in the water. However, they may not feel confident in their abilities to log roll, float, dive, or use their arms to move in the water. All of these skills are covered in detail in our Beginning Strokes, Level 1 class.

Beginning Strokes, Level 2

After building skills and confidence in Level 1, swimmers can move up to this class to learn how to properly execute the breast stroke in the water. This class also instructs swimmers on using rhythmic breathing for freestyle. Swimmers will emerge from this class with refined skills that allow them to enjoy proper form and endurance in the water.

Beginning Strokes, Level 3

In this class, swimmers are able to use the skills they’ve learned in Level 2 to move forward into the side stroke, elementary backstroke, and backstroke. They will also learn how to tread water effectively. Finally, survival techniques will be taught.

Adult

As part of our commitment to fostering water safety at every age, Baby Otter Swim School is pleased to offer private classes designed specifically for the needs of adult swimmers. Many adults who enroll in this class never learned to swim. Others simply want to polish their skills after a long hiatus from the water. We believe that it’s never too late to learn how to swim properly. In fact, we encourage all parents and grandparents who anticipate spending time in and near the water with little ones to complete this course!
