Baby Otter Swim School teaches babies and children how to
swim and they have also produced a DVD on how to protect your child from
drowning.
The DVD (Ten Minutes For Life) was produced by experts Mindy York and Marlene Bloom, co-founders of the Baby Otter Swim School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, to help put a stop to deaths due to drowning.
Through this informative DVD, they hope to help save lives throughout the
U.S. and across the globe. According to the Center for Disease Control,
nine people die every day due to
unintentional drowning. Drowning is the second leading cause of death for
children ages one to 14, and in California, Arizona and
Florida, drowning is the number one cause of death in children under
five.
"Pools aren't safe until parents are educated on the proper layers of
protection – drowning awareness is the cure," says Bloom. "Our DVD needs to be
in the home of every parent and pool owner. The information provided can help
make the difference between life and death for a child." The DVD teaches layers
of protection around the pool and home. Educating viewers on the layers of
protection needed to prevent drowning, the DVD is available for purchase online
at http://www.babyotterswimschool.com/.
It is also included in classes taught at the Baby Otter Swim School.
Although more children die from drowning in the U.S. than from deaths caused by
guns, the drowning epidemic is taken much less seriously. As a result, most
families do not realize the importance of water safety and drowning prevention,
until it is to late.
The Baby Otter Swim School works with children and adults from 10-months
old to senior citizens, teaching its unique 5-day method, Turn, Kick, Reach. A
nonprofit has been established for this program, to make sure that all children
learn these skills, and their parents receive the DVD. At the present time, the
organization is raising awareness and money to help every child in this country.
Among the celebrities singing the praises of the Baby Otter Swim School, the
Turn, Kick, Reach method and the DVD, are actress Gwyneth Paltrow and
professional NBA player, Keyon Dooling, whose children attended Baby Otter.
Florida Marlins executive and former Major League Baseball player, Andre "the
Hawk" Dawson, who was taught how to swim by Baby Otter at age 50, has joined the
school's mission to raise money and awareness for all children. Information is
