Turn, Kick, Reach® (TKR)

Baby Otter Swim School’s TKR swim program is regarded around the country for providing a positive, safe introduction to the water for even the youngest of swimmers! Designed nearly 40 years ago as a proprietary swim method for increasing water safety, TKR is helping kids today find confidence in the water. A child only needs to know how to crawl to be able to enroll. In addition to helping children establish familiarity with the water, TKR also ensures that they will know what to do if they should ever fall into the water. Students will learn basic water movements during a five-day lesson consisting of consecutive classes. It’s never too early to enroll your future swimmer in Davie swim classes!

TKR Review

The TKR Review class is designed to help new swimmers build on the skills learned in the original TKR course. During this class, students begin the journey of developing core skills that will simultaneously reinforce life-saving skills and help kids to build confidence! Many exciting new skills will be learned!

Beginning Strokes, Level 1

After completing TKR Review, students can enroll in Level 1 to refine their new swimming skills. This class covers floating, rolling, arm movements, and underwater dives. Children will have fun diving underwater in search of toys as they build familiarity with essential swimming motions. This course also covers many different aspects of water safety.

Beginning Strokes, Level 2

Level 2 is one of the most exciting Davie swimming classes because this is where students can begin to really blossom in the water! In addition to refining skills covered in previous courses, Level 2 covers breaststroke. Additionally, these Davie swimming lessons cover the important skill of rhythmic breathing for freestyle.

Beginning Strokes, Level 3

Things only get more exciting as swimmers graduate to Level 3! Swimmers are beginning to feel at home in the water. They are also using all of the different skills they’ve learned throughout their Davie swimming lessons together to do more complex movements in the water. At this point, swimmers are ready to learn treading water, backstroke, and survival techniques.
