Turn, Kick, Reach® (TKR)
TKR is the signature course that Florida families have been using to reduce water-related tragedies for 40 years. Intended to be completed as part of a five-day program with consecutive lessons, this course is appropriate for even the littlest of swimmers. Children can typically enroll one they are crawling. For parents, this class can provide peace of mind regarding what would happen if your child ever fell into the water. TKR teaches your child to master the skills of holding their breath, putting their face in the water, and swimming to reach the pool wall and steps. Your child will also be taught to respond to falling in the water by returning to the site of the fall, kicking their feet, reaching for the edge, and climbing out. Baby Otter is proud to provide classes for swimmers with special needs.
TKR Review
Our TKR Review class is the next level for swimmers who have completed the TKR private class. In this course, swimmers are able to refine and strengthen the skills they’ve previously learned.
Beginning Strokes, Level 1:
Designed for swimmers with some basic experience in the water, this course moves skills forward by introducing the log roll, floating, diving for toys, and correct arm usage in the water. Students will gain greater confidence and awareness!
Beginning Strokes, Level 2:
Intended for swimmers who have completed Level 1, this class begins to introduce technical aspects of swimming. Breaststroke and rhythmic breathing for freestyle are two of the skills covered in depth.
Beginning Strokes, Level 3:
This next class focuses on the side stroke, backstroke, elementary backstroke, and survival technique. Students will also learn the proper way to tread water. Students will feel confident and proficient in the water after devoting the time to make it through all four levels of our Fort Lauderdale swim classes!
Adult:
At Baby Otter Swim School, we operate by the philosophy that water safety should be a priority at any age. We also believe that you should be able to enjoy your time in the water. That’s why we offer private swimming classes for adults in Fort Lauderdale that are both informative and encouraging. There are many reasons why our students sign up for adult swim classes. In some cases, adults have simply never learned to swim. They may be inspired to finally learn this skill out of a desire to spend time in the water, take up boating, or feel empowered while supervising their children or grandchildren in the water. In addition, adults often take our private adult lessons as “refresher” courses after going a long time without swimming. Our classes are perfect for improving your skills, technique, and overall comfort level in the water.
