Toddler Swimming Lessons Can Save Lives

Toddler Swimming Lessons

The Importance of Toddler Swimming Lessons

A sixth-grade boy and a nurse joined forces to save the life of a toddler in Omaha, Nebraska, after the three-year-old was spotted at the bottom of a swimming pool in this metropolitan area. Preston Caniglia is just 12 years old, but he was honored as a hero by the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office in a ceremony held at his school and in front of his classmates at Millard Andersen Middle School.

Fast Action Saved a Life

Preston spotted his three-year-old cousin at the bottom of the pool and quickly swam down to rescue him. After Preston brought the child to the edge of the pool, nurse Roxana Francke gave the toddler CPR, which resulted in the child becoming responsive once again. Both of the rescuers were given a Civilian Recognition Award by the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office in response to their quick and effective actions on behalf of the child.

Toddler Swimming Lessons at Baby Otter Swim School

While this story has a happy ending, many similar incidents do not. Investing in toddler swimming lessons will help even the youngest swimmers to protect themselves if they should accidentally fall into the water or venture into water that is too deep for them. The Turn-Kick-Reach® method has been saving the lives of children for more than 40 years. Working with a swim instruction school that uses this advanced method is a practical step toward preventing drownings in your community and protecting your own children from the dangers of swimming pools, ponds and other bodies of water.

At Baby Otter Swim School, we offer toddler swimming lessons designed to help children as young as eight months to grasp the basic concepts of water safety and to act effectively to save themselves if they should fall into the water. Our swimming lessons focus on the basics and can teach children to turn, kick and reach for the side of the pool in just five lessons.
